We have been stripped bare. The emperor wearing our new clothes.
The curtain has been thrown open revealing the truth and we are not the great and powerful Oz.
The shining city upon a hill has dimmed and buckled under its own weight.
And the whole world is watching.
The whole world is watching as the greatest nation on the planet, the example of capitalist might, is brought to its knees in a few short months.
We are the tired, poor, huddled masses.
And we need to pay attention to what is happening.
The pandemic has taught us many things.
It has taught us that employer based Healthcare is a handcuff rather than a lifeline. Millions of Americans lost their Healthcare in the middle of the deadliest pandemic in a century because their individual health is tied to how well their job does. Healthcare should not work this way.
We need to fix that.
The pandemic has taught us that millions of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck because rising costs and lower wages do nothing to help us attain the white picket fenced dream of America.
The richest country in the world and tens of millions of its citizens are left behind.
We need to fix that.
We must invest in the well-being of everyone. We cannot be great if we leave millions in poverty from a system that we brag about.
Yet healthcare and debt are not the only thing the world is watching us for.
We are being torn apart from within.
Our current system of government has shown us that one political party can take advantage of the power they have and do whatever they want with no fear of consequences.
They can abuse the laws, bend them to their will, fire anyone who may investigate them, lie about everything, cheat and manipulate and pervert the meaning of patriotism…and do it all with an american flag waving behind them.
Make no mistake, we are in the fight for our very country’s existence. This is not an exaggeration. This is not an overreaction.
Obstacles and hurdles and lies are being placed in front of our path to the election.
We are told there will be cheating by the very people who are.
They want chaos. They want madness. They want us to fight amongst ourselves so they can remain in power.
And if they succeed there will be no America left to rule. Our country will cease to exist as it was and become the very thing our founders fought to stop.
A country without representation, ruled by the self anointed.
The whole world is watching.
