Political Rants

November 3rd

I wish I could promise a Biden win tonight. I wish I could assure you that this is almost over. But we all know I can’t. Everything logical says Biden wins. But 2020 is an illogical year and I am an illogical girl.

 What do I expect today?

Chaos and hysterics and an early victory called by Trump, regardless if it is based on facts.

I expect Trump caravans to clog highways across the nation. I expect Trump supporters, many armed, to flood polling sites. I expect counter protests to follow. I expect Governors to panic. I expect fraud to be yelled throughout the day.

I expect inconsistent reporting of the numbers.

Spin, spin, spin.

I expect to watch the numbers come in and overthink everything.

I expect getting infuriated at the massively long lines of people trying to vote. Hours long waits to vote. In America. Again.

I expect to hear of lawsuits challenging the validity of ballots.

I expect to fear the outcome regardless of who wins. Either Biden wins and I fear how Trump and his supporters react, or Trump wins and I fear how Trump and his supporters react.

My hopeful, realist side says Biden wins close. 300 or less electoral votes.

My wishful, America isn’t as bad as I feared side sees a landslide Biden win.

My, we’ve seen this before AND it is 2020 side sees Trump win by the slightest of margins.

I expect to be sure of all these outcomes numerous times throughout the night.

I expect to have no idea of what is going on.

I expect so much.

But I hope for much more.
