March

If you’re angry at the protesters. If you’re tired of seeing it in the news. If you’re annoyed and frustrated and upset that this is still going on…..then try, for maybe the first time, to UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ARE PROTESTS.

Breonna Taylor was killed, in the middle of the night, in a hail of gunfire and the only charges that were brought against any shooter was for the bullets that missed.

Yes, the only charges were for the bullets that hit a wall. Not a human.

And the sad thing is, and why so many people are fighting for police reform, is because this is probably the legally correct charge.

There are protections against the person who erroneously wrote the no-knock warrant. There are protections against the officers who did not announce who they were. There are protections against police in general for a bad shooting.

The law is stacked on the side of the police.

And another innocent person is dead. Another innocent black person has been killed.

And nothing can change that.

But we can fight to change the laws so that those who would take a life or cause a life to be taken, will be punished.

We cannot bring Breonna Taylor back. Or George Floyd. Or Philando Castile. Or Tamir Rice. Or Trayvon Martin. Or the many many more.

But we can fight to change the system that protects their killers.

We can do this through marching. We can do this through voting. We can do this by standing up to those who would resist from ignorance or fear.

We can do this.
