“It would have been more comfortable to remain silent.” -Anita Hill, October 1991 For the many of you who do not discuss politics out loud, whether in public, social media, or outside your comfort zone, you can no longer remain silent. If you go on social media to share photos of your life and block or hide or scroll by…

The Anchor That Drowns Us
Every mass shooting brings out the same anger and heartbreak and quickly spirals into a viscious fight over gun control and mental health.
The same arguments from all sides falling on deaf ears and nothing ever changes.
Ever.
A Lesson for White America On Racism
To end racism, you must understand it and accept how deep it goes. Only then can we move forward.
Enough is Enough
I am a Democrat, so yes, I am biased towards the Democrat vision. I won’t deny that. I’ll post angry, passionate messages about the Republican party and many will roll their eyes and just scroll on by because I have “blinders” on. Yet let’s break down the message of the Republican Party right now, ok? First off, what IS their…
Expletive Not Deleted
Today, the Governor of Texas announced he would be opening the state up 100%. He will also be lifting the mask mandate. The cheers of Covid Deniers and Libertarians screaming ‘Freedom’ could be heard across the Texas sky, Ted Cruz booked another flight to Cancun to celebrate, and Spring Break just became a guinea pig for the future.
I have a very simple response to this news and to all those celebrating.
After the Crisis
I saw the beauty in my own country, and it was inspiring. So why can’t we extend this feeling beyond moments of unexpected tragedy to include the long-term problems of the known reality? Why do so many turn away when they are asked about the millions of homeless freezing every winter? Why does a natural disaster have to happen to open our hearts? Nothing is stronger than when a community comes together, and America is a community. It is made up of so many different people, but we are all in this together.
The January 6th Impeachment
Today begins the impeachment trial of Donald Trump. The issue, as usual, is very loudly being debated. To me, it comes down to one simple question. Do you think Donald Trump’s actions led to the attack on the United States Capitol Building on January 6th? The question is not whether a former president can be impeached. The question is whether…
Groundhog Presidency
We made it to the next day. It is no longer Groundhog Day in America! This morning we woke up and Andie MacDowell was next to us, a gentle snow had fallen on the ground outside, and we were no longer trapped in the repeating Hellscape that was the past four years.
Who We Are
We’ve been here before. America has reacted in terrible ways to situations it deems a threat. Sometimes it is started by our government, sometimes it is started by the people. Both influence each other’s hands. So the notion that “cooler heads will prevail” in the current situation we find our country, should be said with an understanding of what that means. And, for me, it means this will only get worse.
American Hustle
This is not about wanting to lead or govern and this sure as hell is not about fighting voter fraud. If this was about voter fraud then how come every single time one of his lawyers stood in a court room with the ability to present their case and prove voter fraud, they admitted they had no proof? Why would they do that if they were only their at the whim of a madman?
Please
Ten months into this pandemic and we are still fighting over basic science. We are still fighting over rights and freedom and the insane interpretation that because we are American we can do whatever we want, whenever we want. Even if it costs lives.
The Deer, The Fire, The Violinist, The Car Crash
The following is not something I came up with. These are not my words. Not my thoughts. But ever since I first read them, I couldn’t get them out of my head. I needed to share them. The following covers a very tense topic. It is one I do not take lightly.
I’m Sorry, 3000
Three thousand Americans died from Covid-19 in one day. Three thousand. 3000 It’s been eleven months since this virus appeared on our shores. We locked down to slow the spread in the beginning. We watched in horror as New York City was filled with death and morgue trucks. We shivered at the stories of nursing homes being overrun. So we…
Coup De Toddler
I know we, as Americans, think of Coups as messy, violent military actions in awful countries in other parts of the world. We see them in our movies and television shows. A rogue general attacking the capital as a political statement.
We are naïve.
All Hands
Words and expression are harder to come by for me lately. I try to write something inspirational or something motivating or just share my thoughts on something going on in the world but I can’t finish my thought. How can I when there is so much going on and so much to discuss and all I want to do is…
