What we are seeing right now from the Republicans and Donald Trump is not funny anymore.
It is not amusing or pathetic or anything that should be enabled.
This is dangerous.
This is treasonous.
And if you are rolling your eyes right now, keep reading. Let’s break this down.
What Donald Trump is doing right now is done out of pure ego and the desire for power. That is it.
This is not about wanting to lead or govern and this sure as hell is not about fighting voter fraud. If this was about voter fraud then how come every single time one of his lawyers stood in a court room with the ability to present their case and prove voter fraud, they admitted they had no proof? Why would they do that if they were only their at the whim of a madman?
“This is not a fraud case.”
Rudy Giuliani said this in a Pennsylvania federal court. In that same case, Trump lawyer Linda Kearns said she is “not proceeding” on allegations of fraud. In a Montgomery County case, a judge asked “Are you claiming that there is any fraud in connection with these 592 disputed ballots?” Trump lawyer Goldstein replied: “To my knowledge at present, no.” In another case in Bucks County, Pa., Trump’s attorneys signed a joint stipulation of facts that explicitly admits that they are not alleging fraud. The stipulation of facts reads in part: “Petitioners do not allege, and there is no evidence of, any fraud in connection with the challenged ballots.” The stipulation also says they don’t allege or have evidence of “misconduct” or “impropriety” in connection with the challenged ballots. In that same case, the judge rejected the Trump campaign’s attempt to throw out absentee ballots, noting “The parties specifically stipulated in their comprehensive stipulation of facts that there exists no evidence of any fraud, misconduct, or any impropriety with respect to the challenged ballots. There is nothing in the record and nothing alleged that would lead to the conclusion that any of the challenged ballots were submitted by someone not qualified or entitled to vote in this election.”
So if there is all this fraud, why are Trump and his minions only sharing it on television and twitter and mock “hearings” that have no legal matter?
Could it be that they know this is all bullshit? They know the instance they allege fraud in an actual courtroom and present no evidence, the law will come down on them harder than Mitch McConnell does on democrat bills from the House.
And now a handful of Senate Republicans have announced they will protest the January 6th electoral vote in congress certifying the election, the final nail in Trump’s coffin.
But in there statement, did they allege actual fraud?
No, they did not.
They said the allegations brought forward by Trump have caused distrust in Americans at the safety and validity of the election. Not that there is actual fraud. They are demanding a 10 day investigation so that Americans can feel better about an election that we already know the results to.
It is a side show. It is a carnival act. It is a street magician flashing their hands in the air to distract you. Yet, like a street magician, there is not real magic. There is no real fraud. It is all entertainment for them.
But why?
Individual power.
Ted Cruz, the wannabe King leading the charge with the Senate Republicans, wants Trump voters to back him in 2024. He sees an opportunity. And he sees it in the millions of Trumpsters who believe their President walks on water.
This is all about getting re-elected. The ones standing by Trump would rather stand with him than face his wrath. They are cowards. Cowards who want to lead.
Now, if you are still rolling your eyes at this, you are either a Trump supporter and are hate reading this, or you are probably saying to yourself “Democrats do it to.”
No, no they do not. The desire to gain power is not a partisan problem, this is true. There are many democrats who have abused their role for money and power. But what trump is doing is very different. He is shattering the faith in our election system for no other reason than he can’t stand to lose.
But Russia and the 2016 election, you say?
Ok, lets discuss that.
In 2016 we had ample, actual evidence that Trump loyalists could possibly be compromised by Russian agents. We had actual evidence that discussions were taking place behind the scenes to help Trump.
The Mueller report, while handcuffed in so many ways about what and where they could investigate, handed over a book of evidence and recommended they be further investigated by Congress. The Republicans would not. Instead they buried the report and let it collect dust while allowing Trump to say it was all a hoax. Actual, physical evidence of Russia tampering with the election was presented, legally, in court.
And even still, even with evidence that Russia helped create chaos in 2016, the day after the election, did you hear Hillary Clinton say the Republicans had stolen the election with millions of illegal votes? That dead people voted for Trump? That ballots were thrown out and flipped to Trump?
No, they never made any of those claims. They said Russia helped spread false information and had actual evidence to back that claim.
Democrats had proof that a foreign power spread false information to hurt Clinton’s chances. They presented that evidence.
Donald Trump is saying that Democrats literally changed votes. That it was all a vast conspiracy. What he is alleging is that we can never have another election again because they are not secure.
And he is doing this with no evidence.
Ask yourself this…if the Democrats had the ability to steal elections….then why did Hillary lose? Why did the Democrats allow the Republicans to keep control of the Senate? Why did they allow for House seats to be lost? And why is the fraud in only six states? Why are the cities alleged to be the biggest contributors also cities with a high African American population? Why didn’t Democrats cheat in Texas instead of Georgia? There are so many more electoral votes in Texas than Georgia. Why not Florida? Why not Ohio?
This is all a street magic trick. Donald Trump wants you to keep an eye on the distraction. He wants you to think you figured it all out.
But, like magic, his claim of fraud is fake. It is imaginary.
And this magic trick is hurting our country.
Right now rallies are planned on January 6th. The Proud Boys, the racist group Trump told to Stand By, are coming. Trump is egging his supporters on. He is intimidating the politicians set to certify the election.
All of this…..with no evidence. No matter how much evidence he says he has, when he had the chance to present it in court, he did not.
Because Donald Trump is disgrace. And I am ashamed that so many have let this freak show go on for so long.
