We are not dealing with a republican versus democrat debate this year. Not anymore. This election isn’t about policy differences. This election is about whether you support a president like Donald Trump, or you don’t.
Period.
But shouldn’t it be about Joe Biden and if we agree with what he says? Shouldn’t it be about policies?
YES! It SHOULD be. We should be debating policy and ideas and how to move our country forward. We should be focusing on so many other things.
But we can’t.
We have to focus on the elephant in the room.
We can’t ignore what this is anymore.
This is a cult.
And right now you are either agreeing with me, even if you it is a painful thing to admit….or you are rolling your eyes and laughing. Ten bucks says, if you are the latter, then I know who you are voting for.
Think about it, though. What else could this be?
Cult of Personality is defined when the country’s regime uses mass media, propaganda, lies, patriotism and demonstrations to create a vision of their leader as heroic and to be worshipped. We see it all the time in nations that we would normally denounce.
Donald Trump supporters aren’t cheering, rallying, and fighting for the republican party. They are worshipping one man. It is Donald Trump and nothing else.
They will eat their own if they stand in the way of their leader.
Look at what has happened to the last two republican candidates for President. John McCain’s death was cheered by Trump supporters. Mitt Romney is called a Republican in Name Only and has been branded a member of the resistance.
Any Republican who voices anything negative about Donald Trump is signaled out and attacked. Fall in line or suffer his wrath.
And this isn’t happening in one area of our country. This is happening everywhere.
A caravan of Trump supporters followed a Biden campaign bus around Texas. Every stop the bus made the supporters got out, most of them armed, and threatened the campaign. They rammed a car on the highway and tried to slow traffic down to 35 miles an hour….on a highway!
Armed Trump supporters are showing up at voting locations and are taunting and harassing voters.
Donald Trump calls the free press the “Enemy of the State”…but only the press who disagrees with him.
Donald Trump threatens jail to those who oppose him.
His supporters think they are the silent majority and the true patriots of our country. They have lifted him up as an Idol cleaning out the evil in our country. Draining the swamp. They praise him as a king.
We no longer have a president.
We have a cult leader.
And right now, in my eyes, you are either voting to stop that or you are ok with that.
I am not sorry for being that blunt.
If you are protest voting, if you are sitting this one out, if you are saying “Democrats are just as bad” then you are part of the cult. You may not want to admit that and you may be angry that I am saying it, but it is the truth.
Donald Trump is the greatest threat to our Democracy that we have ever seen.
And he has an army of supporters willing to kill in his name.
Willing. To kill. In his name.
Frankly I don’t care what single issue or judge vacancy or policy that you want Republicans to handle.
We are beyond that right now.
The immediate threat to everything our county stands for is flying around the nation on Air Force One using the American Flag as camouflage.
We must vote him out.
If that means voting for a party you have never voted for than so be it. Consider it your act of patriotism for the day.
The cult of Trump is real. It is dangerous. And I fear more lives will be lost because of it.
I just hope we do the right thing on Tuesday and stand up to it.
